Josie Melancon Gastell, 52, of Fannett died June 11, 2010, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.  Josie was born December 29, 1957, in Hamshire, Texas to Andrus and Mary Lorene (Craigen) Melancon.  A resident of Hamshire most of her life, she was a hotel manager.

Survivors include her son, Roger Dale East, Jr. of Fannett; mother, Lorene Craigen Wagner of Fannett; sisters, Della Melancon Freeze and her husband Fred of Beaumont and Ilene Melancon Stephens and her husband Douglas of Fannett; brother, Jeff Melancon and his wife Tammy of Fannett; grandchildren, Samantha East, Destiney East, Saige East, Sevren East, and Brianna Rickles; nieces, Lynde Freeze and Kayla East; nephews, Garrett Melancon, Payson Melancon, Dustin East, Joe Freeze, John Freeze, Jodi Leger, and Shane Leger; great nephews, Codi Leger, Cori Leger, and Shane Tyler Leger; and great niece, Faith Leger.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie with burial to follow at Broussard’s Cemetery in Fannett.  A gathering of family and friends will Sunday, June 13, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
