John M. Alaniz, 65, of Kountze, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A native of Isleton, California, John was born December 6, 1944, to Santos Maldonado Alaniz and Jose Alaniz. He retired after thirty plus years as a Sales Supervisor with Schlumberger and Pneumatic Industrial Services.  John was a United States Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War.  A man who never met a stranger, loved to travel, play golf, bowl, and spend time with his family and friends.  He will not be forgotten and will surely be missed by all who knew him.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Sherryl Laughlin Alaniz. 

Survivors include his children, Jon H. Alaniz and his wife Cindy of Kountze, Shelly Alaniz of Kountze, Kelly Alaniz of Lumberton, and adopted daughter Kathy Gore and her husband Clinton of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Mikael, Pressley, Marisa, Christian, Ashton, and Triston; eleven brothers and sisters, Joseph Alaniz, David Alaniz, Eliseo Alaniz, Alice Valles, Noe Alaniz, Noemi Alaniz, Abraham Alaniz, Esther Biselli, Mary Alaniz, Eva Harrison, and Lydia Alaniz; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

His funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 2010, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road at Hwy 96, Silsbee.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Broussard’s.  A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, with the family at Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles, Louisiana under the direction of Broussard’s.
