Albert (Bert) J. Westby, 82 of Nederland passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Groves.

Family and friends will gather 5:00-8:00 PM Monday at Broussard’s in Nederland, with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.  A memorial service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Broussard’s with Reverend David Placette officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

A native of Willow City, North Dakota, Bert lived in the Nederland and Port Arthur area since 1959.  He retired from Texaco after thirty years of service as a chemical engineer.  He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, where he served as lector, Eucharistic minister and enthusiastic choir member.  Bert was also an avid reader, league bowler, passionate member of the Port Arthur Barbershop Quartet and most importantly – a dedicated father of seven children and loving husband of 58 years.

Bert was preceded in death by son Keith Westby, daughter Diana Westby and grandson Pearly Guillory.

He is survived by wife Virginia Westby of Nederland; three sons, Steven Westby of Richboro, PA, Gary Westby of Shreveport, LA, Larry Westby of McKinney, TX; two daughters, Karen Langham of Port Arthur, Barbara Westby of Nederland; fourteen grandchildren, and one great grandson.
