Beverly Jean Herring
September 20, 1929 - June 4, 2010

On Friday, June 4th, Beverly Jean Herring returned home, into the hands of our Lord.

She was in her beautiful home, surrounded by her loving family in her final hours. It’s hard to imagine a world without her and her ability to light up a room upon entry will truly be missed.

Beverly was born in Pampa, Texas, on September 20, 1929 to Jesse and Lois Stalls. She attended Paris High School and graduated from Paris Junior College. She earned a BA in education from East Texas State at Commerce, where she met and married Fred Herring. They raised two boys together, which she considered her greatest achievement. Beverly taught in Beaumont for thirty-five years. Former students adored her and often commented about the positive impact she had on their lives.  She retired in 1990.

She was an active member of Trinity Methodist Church, singing in the choir and attending Sunday school.

She loved to dance and was like a giddy school girl when she stepped upon a dance floor.  She was adventurous and loved to travel. She was the consummate hostess and was a passionate Bridge player; achieving the prestigious honor of becoming a Bronze Life Master. People say it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. Well, with bridge, she would have to strongly disagree!

Her never ending optimism lifted up all those who knew her.

Bev, Beverly, Jeanie, Mom, Grandmommy, Gran, and Grandma will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Pat and his wife Cindy, and Mike and his wife Pat; her aunts, Clara Stalls and Jackie King; cousins, Jerry Quinn, Diane Kuras, Carolyn Hodges, Joanne Koch and Ann Stansbury; and three adoring grandchildren, Jake, Jessie and Jesse Herring.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3430 Harrison Avenue, Beaumont, with a graveside service at 6:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Deport, Texas under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, in the Dishman Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church.
