Marion “Mario” Rodriguez Meza, 84, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010. A life long resident of San Antonio, Texas he was born July 22, 1925, in Beaumont to Hesiquia Rodriguez and Mariano Sanchez Meza. Marion was a civil service airplane mechanic and a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the lottery.
Marion is survived by his sisters, Isabel M. Gonzales and Carmen M. O’Shea; nephews, Edward Gonzales, III, Jerry O’Shea and Alan O’Shea; nieces, Vivian Gonzales Gore, Kathryn Hernandez-Roeder, Dolores O’Shea, Patricia O’Shea Hardy, Denise O’Shea Guerrero; six great nieces and one great-great niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mariano and Hesiquia Meza; sisters, Mariana Meza and Juanita Hernandez; brothers, Julian Meza, Cecilio Meza, Pedro Meza and Augustine Meza.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at Broussard’s, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m.
