Amber Joyce Koelemay 
February 17, 1939 - May 22, 2010

Amber Joyce Milligan Koelemay went to the loving arms of Jesus on May 22, 2010.  Born in Nome, Texas on February 17, 1939, Amber was a lifelong resident of western Jefferson County.  She was a graduate of Sour Lake High School class of 1957.  She attended Lamar University from 1988-1991.  She served as election judge of Jefferson County Precinct 91 for over 20 years.  She was a devoted Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Winnie for 50 years, teaching all ages.  She was owner of the Drugstore in China.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Caretha Going Milligan and T.U. Milligan, Sr.; her mother and father-in-law, Edna Lester Koelemay and Martin Koelemay, Jr., and her son, Robert Keith Koelemay.  Survivors include her husband, Glen Martin Koelemay; her children, Mark and Carol Koelemay of Winnie, Breck and Pam Koelemay of Lake Jackson, and Greg and Cindy Koelemay Bostwick of Winnie.  Also surviving are siblings T.U. Milligan of Georgia, Bettye McHenry of Missouri, Jewel Griffin of Michigan, Robert Milligan of Silsbee, and William (Benny) Milligan of College Station, five treasured grandchildren, Shannon and Alyssa Koelemay of Lake Jackson, Lilia and Michael Koelemay of Winnie, and Lucas Bostwick of Winnie.  They are joined in the loss by the many friends she loved so dearly.

 

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Broussard’s in Winnie, 134 W. Buccaneer Dr., Monday, May 24th.  Visitation will continue 9:00 AM Tuesday morning at Broussard’s in Beaumont, 1605 N Major at Gladys, with funeral services at 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow in China Cemetery.
