Dustin Ray Chaney
February 17, 1983 - May 22, 2010

Dustin Ray Chaney, born February 17, 1983, went to be with our Lord on May 22, 2010.  A gathering of his family and friends will be at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road in Silsbee on Thursday, May 27, 2010, 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  A graveside service with military honors will be Friday, May 28, 2010, at 11:30 A.M. at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston with his memorial service at 6:00 P.M. that evening at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2711 Helena Avenue in Nederland.

“Chaney” graduated from Lumberton High School in 2001, and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four and a half years with three tours in Iraq.  He was a student at Lamar Institute of Technology and coach for the Lumberton Little League of 11 and 12 year olds.

Dustin loved sports and making people laugh, but most of all he loved his God, his country, his family and friends. Being a Marine was at the very core of his being.  “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13  This says it all. His greatest desire in life was to make a difference in this world, and that, he did...never met a stranger, life of the party, was determined, focused, and his leadership ability was second to none. This is his legacy.   Dustin had a contagious smile, love for life, and a giving nature...truly was God’s purpose. His love for God, love of country, love for family and friends will forever be remembered and cherished in all of our hearts. His greatest love, however, was his two beautiful girls. He answered to many names throughout the years...from “Chain Lynk”, to “Lynk”, and finally the one everyone knew him by...”Chaney”. But, the greatest name of all was the sound of his girls calling him “Daddy”.  If you had the pleasure of being his friend, you had a friend for life. We are all blessed for having known him.

Dustin is survived by his mother, Gloria Ann Chaney of Lumberton; daughters,  Brailee and Kenzlee Chaney of Beaumont; grandmother, Beverly Linscomb of Lumberton; aunts and uncle, Martha Scott of Vidor and Ray and Michele Linscomb of New Windsor, Maryland; cousins, John and Ann Scott of Vidor and William and Sarah Linscomb of Maryland; plus many more family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ray Linscomb, Sr.
