Joan Marie Caywood, 75, of Beaumont, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont after a twenty-five year battle with breast cancer. Joan was born in Beaumont on November 28, 1934. Joan was a loving wife to Howard Caywood for fifty-four years and a loving mother and grandmother.
Joan is survived by her husband, Howard; son, Dan and his wife Janna of Beaumont; daughter, Susan Metzler of Katy; sister, Cathy Winn and brother, Guy Williams both of New Braunfels. Joan has five grandchildren, Amanda Caywood of Houston, Max Metzler of College Station, Kelly Caywood of College Station, Cody Metzler of Katy and Jake Metzler also of Katy.
Joan never let her long and difficult battle with cancer stop her from living her life to the fullest. Most people describe her as the most positive person they know; always kind and thinking of others even in her most difficult times. Courageous and strong, she never let breast cancer define who she was, always looking past it for only the good stuff in life.
Her memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and a private family committal at Broussard's Crematorium under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Mitterlehner, Harold Eisen, James Ward, Ralph Wooster, Bobby Nantz, David K. Moore, Chuck Kalkbrenner, and Zack Shelton. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2010, at the church.
