J. D. Landes 
July 13, 1915 - May 13, 2010

J.D. Landes, 94, of Beaumont, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital. 

He was born July 13, 1915, in Eustace to Lizzie Ann (Huddleston) Landes and Isaac H. Landes. A resident of the Beaumont area since 1946, J.D. retired in 1975 as Dean of the School of Business at Lamar University.  He was a veteran in the United States Army Division that marched across Europe to meet the Russians and defeat the Germans to end World War II.

J.D. received the Paul Harris Award and was a lifetime member of the Rotary Club.  He was a longtime faithful member and a Deacon of First Baptist Church in Beaumont.  J.D. was very active in all areas of the church and was involved with the senior members of the church.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Helen Landes of Beaumont; and many many friends.

A memorial service celebrating J.D.’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 900 Calder, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of his family and friends will follow the service in the church parlor. A graveside service was held Friday, May 14, 2010, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank.
