John Phillips was born in Port Arthur, Texas and reared in Port Neches. He graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1961. Upon graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a Viet Nam Veteran and served his country with honor for 4 years. He graduated from Lamar University with a degree in drafting/design engineering. After graduation, he was employed with Jefferson Chemical Company then changed employment to Matrix Engineering currently Chicago Bridge & Iron. John retired from CB&I November of 2008.

John married Lynda in September, 1967. They were happily married for 42 years. He had two beautiful daughters, Jill and Rachel. Rachel married Greg Dunn and gave John three handsome grandsons, Nicholas, JohnMichael, and Ian Dunn.

John was an honorable, compassionate, generous and courageous man who will be sorely missed by his family, friends and co-workers.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Reverend

Dr. David Mahfouz officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches with Military honors. A gathering of family and friends will be 6:00-7:00 PM with a prayer and share time service at 7:00 PM, Wednesday at Broussard’s.
