Marjorie Frances Barton, 88, of Winnie died May 4, 2010, at the Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.

Marjorie was a native of Beaumont and had lived in the Winnie area since 1961. She worked as a teacher’s aid for East Chambers Independent School District before retiring.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM. Friday, May 7, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 1708 Hwy 124, in Winnie with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine in Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Broussard’s.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Terry Barton and his wife Eunice of Houston; daughter, Carol Gentz and her husband, James of Winnie; son-in-law, Lester Fontenot of Winnie; grandsons, Chris Fontenot and his wife Sarah of Winnie, Trent Fontenot and his wife Angela of Denmark, and Austen Gentz of Addison; granddaughters, Rachel Ogden and husband Wayne of Cedar Park, Amanda Davis and her husband Mike of Martinez, California, Shelley Myers and Tracey LuLue of Pasadena, Lesley Trammell of Beaumont; sister, Lucille French of Beaumont; step-grandchildren, Dwayne Donaldson and his wife Andre, and Deanna Donaldson; great-grandchildren, Emily Ogden, Elliot Ogden, Dakota Donaldson, Luke Donaldson and Xavier Donaldson; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and members of the Open Door Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mabel Reynolds; husband, John Charles Barton; daughters, Judy Trammell and Frances Fontenot; brother, George Reynolds; sister, Loretta Reynolds and great-grandchildren, Connor and Zachary Davis.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Winnie-Stowell Building Fund, P O Box 1570, Winnie, Texas 77665.

Pallbearers are Pete Cuniff, Gene Fontenot, Rick Ferguson, Jim Gregory, Scott French, Randy French and honorary pallbearer Prentice "Dick" Odom.
