George Raymon "Pappy" Lindsey 
May 23, 1921 - April 21, 2010

George Raymon “Pappy” Lindsey, 88, died April 21, 2010, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.  George was born in Honey Island on May 23, 1921, to George Oscar and Eldorado Valentine (Thomas) Lindsey.  A lifelong resident of Kountze, he retired in the forestry department with Kirby Lumber Company following twenty-two years of service.  He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps.

 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Betty Jo Lindsey of Kountze; daughters, Doris Esther Carpenter and her husband Jerry Lee of Weimar, Texas, Mary Ellen Hoke of Warren, and Paula Kay Brunson and her husband Charles of Homestead, Florida; grandchildren, David Carpenter, Laura Carpenter, William Paul Hoke, Jr., Lindsey Webster Hoke, Scott Lindsay Brunson, and Terrence James Brunson; great-granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Brunson; and six nieces.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with Reverend Robert “Rusty” West officiating.  Burial will follow at Holland Cemetery in Kountze.  A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
