John Larry Short, 56, of Vidor, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.

A native of Woodville, John was a life long resident of the area and was a boilermaker.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Lorrain Short of Vidor; children, John Larry Short, Jonni Houser and her husband Jason and Bostick Short all of Houston, Wendy Gentry and her husband Eric and Debra Reeves and her husband Joshua all of Vidor, Stephanie Filer and Richard Carter of Beaumont, Dustin Filer of Vidor, and Joy Filer of Lumberton; thirteen grandchildren; sisters, Avis Williams of Fred, Patsy Phelps of Silsbee, and Jo Cook of Rockport; brother, Rusty Short; and nephew, Terry Spell and his wife Kim.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Ovie Short; and brother, Dwayne Short.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with burial at Fred Community Cemetery in Fred, Texas.  A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, April 20, 2010, 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Broussard’s.
