Cherry Esther Moss
August 21, 1928 - April 6, 2010

Cherry Esther Moss passed away April 6th, 2010 in her home. She spent the final week of her life surrounded by family, friends, happiness, and love.   Cherry was born August 21, 1928, but magically she was only “70”yrs. old when she died. There is no way to describe Cherry in a few words, but if we had to choose, they would be..loving, gorgeous, funny, honest, independent, and “diva” (those who knew Cherry well will know exactly what that means.) In life, Cherry enjoyed shopping, traveling, decorating, reading, playing bridge, movies and ELVIS. Cherry also loved fashion and rarely left the house without looking stunningly complete with red lipstick and manicured fingernails. Cherry was a busy lady, but she always loved ending her day by sitting on he porch with a friend by her side and a drink in her hand. We made sure she got to do exactly that during her final days.   Cherry was preceded in death by her father Chappy Coles, and her mother, LuLu Martin. She is survived by her five children, Esther Macha, Rachel Holland, Becca Newman, Leah Moss, and Joel Moss and their spouses. Ten grandchildren, Coral, Megan, Dave, Jordan, Clay, Ross, Madison, Joelli, Zack, and Mason. Seven  great grandchildren, Presley, Willow, Isabella, Collier, Sadie, Gavin, and Jude. Also survived by her sister, Shirley George, and her best friend, Leon Richardson. A regular funeral would never do for the fabulous matriarch of our family, therefore we will be having a traditional Jazz celebration for her in New Orleans. Everyone is welcome to join us in our celebration of Cherry’s life. If you want to send flowers to show your  sympathy, we request you give the flowers to someone living that is special to you. As the owner of The Cherry Tree florist for nearly forty years, Cherry knew just how much flowers can make a person feel loved. If you would like to make a donation to show your sympathy, we request you give to Shriner’s Hospital of Houston in honor of Sadie and Jude Nash. We would like to thank everyone for their kind words of comfort and delicious food.   We would like to thank Denita Lewis and Odyssey Hospice for helping us keep Cherry comfortable in her own home. We would like to thank Steve and Kathy Cagle for being such loving friends and neighbors to Cherry. And finally we would like to thank Cherry for being herself.  Cherry,  you were wonderfully unique, completely perfect, and absolutely irreplaceable. We love you very much and are missing you already.
