Marcus Allen Stanley
October 3, 1974 - April 1, 2010

Marcus Allen Stanley, 35, of Lumberton, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at his residence after a two year battle with melanoma.

A native of Port Arthur, he had lived in this area all his life and worked for Exxon Mobil as a machinist.   Marcus was a loving father, husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.  He may have been a man of few words to some people, but he always wanted to make sure the words he did speak were inspiring, uplifting, and positive.  He has always loved the Lord, but as he battled the beast of Melanoma, he grew even closer to Him and he told me everything was so clear.  God first-bottom line.  He tried to share this knowledge with family, friends, co-workers--anyone he could, because he wanted everyone to find the same peace and to spend eternity in Heaven, like he knew he would.  He fought a brave fight over the past two years, and we truly believed he would be healed here on earth.  But, God's will was for him to be healed in Heaven, and we will accept that and praise Him always.  He answered our prayers.  Marcus is healed and he is looking down on us from Heaven with two good lungs, walking freely, no more pain, and he can't wait until we all meet him.  Marcus also wanted to make sure that everyone take the time to get your moles checked by a dermatologist.  It seems so unreal that a cancer can ravage your body so quickly, all from a little mole on your thumb that you were born with, but it did for Marcus.  Please search anything you can about Melanoma Awareness, please put sunblock on if you are in the sun, and please stop going to tanning beds.  Take care of the skin God put you in.   Sela, Sloane and I know you are our Guardian Angel always and we love you so much.  We will spend the rest of our lives telling people about you, sharing God's grace and fulfilling your desire to bring people to Jesus.  We love you daddy.  "For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7.

He is survived by his wife, Mindy; daughters, Sela Kaye Stanley, and Sloane Elyse Stanley; brothers, Michael Shannon Stanley and   Rebecca Kaye Ancelet and James Cory Stanley and his wife Amy; parents, Michael and Debra Stanley; grandparents, Dewey Dies and Eula Dies, all of Port Arthur; nieces and nephews, Kambry Mae Stanley, Aiden Joseph Ancelet, Katelyn Lynea Stanley, Joshua Cade Stanley, and Jacob Corben Stanley; and extended family through marriage.

Marcus is preceded in death by his grandparents, Royce W. Stanley and Hollis and Anita Jones; and an uncle, Richard Stanley.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M.  Monday, April 5, 2010, at Golden Triangle Church on The Rock, 6355 Hwy 69 South, Beaumont, Texas with burial to follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland under the direction of Broussard’s ~ Silsbee.  A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, April 3, 2010, 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
