Bertha Guidry Parfait 
August 26, 1934 - March 25, 2010

Bertha Guidry Parfait, 75, died March 25, 2010, of cancer at her home in Jasper, Texas..

 

She was born in Winnie on August 26, 1934, to Noland Guidry and Leona Lulue Guidry. Bertha later moved to Vidor and was a former columnist for the Vidor Vidorian and wrote the column “To Homemakers” in the 1960’s.  Bertha moved to Jasper in 1987 and was co-owner of The Country Corner Resale Shoppe with her sister, Marie Rabel, who preceded her in death.  She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was an avid outdoors woman.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 29, 2101,  at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 W. Buccaneer Drive with Reverend Ron Foshage of St. Michael’s officiating with burial at Fairview cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be from                      5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Broussard’s with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM.                       .

 

Bertha is survived by her husband fifty-nine years, James M. Parfait; three sons, James Parfait, John Parfait and his wife Michelle and Joseph Parfait all of Vidor; three daughters, Janice Cinco of Stafford, Virginia, Julie Zavala and her husband Robert of Victoria, and Mary Jeanne Treuil and her husband Larry of Houston; twenty-two grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marvin and Wayne Guidry.
