On Monday, March 22, 2010, in Dallas, Robert Lee “Bobby” Sheffield, 54, of Huffman, formerly of Lumberton, left this earth and with him went a bright burning star.

A native of Beaumont, he was born February 27, 1956, to Audrey Dale Byrd Sheffield and Gerald Wayne Sheffield.  He had been a resident of Southeast Texas most of his life and was a craftsman.  Bobby rightfully earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems, and was in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Business.  His true unyielding passion was for music.

Survivors include his sons, Mark Sheffield and his wife Rebecca of New Braunfels, and Dustin Lee Sheffield and his wife Christen of Katy; daughter, Danielle Cherié Sheffield of Houston; brother, Wayne Sheffield of Dallas; sister, Cheryl Sheffield McCown and her husband Ronnie of Lumberton; mother, Dale Sheffield of Lumberton; grandchildren, Cassidy Lee Sheffield and Violet Marie Sheffield; mother of his children, Carolyn Sheffield of Houston; cousins, Don Maddox, Ron Maddox, Sharon Maddox Richmond, Dennis Byrd, Cindy Byrd Bienvenu, Eddie Byrd, Gary Byrd, and Mike McIntosh; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

His father, Gerald W. Sheffield preceded him in death.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium following the service.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at Broussard’s.
