Reverend Larry Wayne Lindsey 
July 31, 1954 - March 22, 2010

Reverend Larry Wayne Lindsey, 55, of Bevil Oaks, went to meet his Savior, Monday, March 22, 2010 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston after a lengthy heart transplant battle.

He was born July 31, 1954, in Port Arthur to Cyril “B.C.” Lindsey and Charlene Lewis Lindsey.  After growing up in the Southeast Texas area, Larry moved to pursue his education and his calling as a pastor serving his last Pastorate at First Baptist Church of Bevil Oaks.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Winona King Lindsey of Bevil Oaks; daughter, Lana Charis Lindsey of Bevil Oaks; father, Cyril “B.C.” Lindsey and his wife Phyllis of Vidor; brothers, Mark Lewis Lindsey and his wife Connie and Kevin Curtis Lindsey and his wife Carol all of Lumberton; grandson, Lance Wayne Lindsey of Bevil Oaks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Charlene Lewis Lindsey; grandparents James E. & Rene Freeman and George W. and Sue Lewis.

Larry graduated valedictorian of the Vidor High School class of 1972, top graduate of the Texas A&M University Class of 1976 with a degree in Business Administration and a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1980.

Rev. Lindsey pastored in several Texas Southern Baptist churches including Kirbyville, The Woodlands, Tatum and Prairieville before coming back to this area and serving at First Baptist Bevil Oaks.  Larry and his family are members of South Park Baptist Church in Beaumont. 

In addition to being a pastor, Larry was a published author and had a love for fishing. He was a devoted husband, father and had recently become a proud Papaw.  Larry was known for his Godly wisdom and his desire for people to know Christ as their Savior.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 26th, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Bevil Oaks with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25th, 2010, at Broussard’s.
