Marion Hallberg Humphrey Gawenda, 87 of Beaumont, died March 20, 2010 at Harbor Hospice. A native of New Rochelle, New York, she was born on August 14, 1922 to Bessie Spreckley Hallberg and Tage Hallberg. Marion moved from Michigan one year ago to be with her daughter, Marcia Poole.

Her family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Harbor Hospice and The Clairmont. Two special people helped with her care during the time she was at home and in hospice care, Doreen Gibson, Stephen’s fiancé, and April Sheffield. Doreen, who was lovingly called “The Boss”, was wonderful with Mom, she cared for her beautifully with kindness and love. April helped with so many things as well, when it came to Mom’s care.

She is survived by her daughters, Marcia Poole and Carol Lindbert; son, Roald Humphrey and his wife Teresa; grandchildren, Paul Raymond Martin Jr. and his wife Cindy, Stephen Joseph Poole, Michael Morton Poole and his wife Melissa, Amy Elizabeth Wilson and her husband Sean, and Matthew Roald Humphrey; great-grandson, Kameron Kyle Wilson; sister, Alice Witt of Colorado; nephew, Peter Rainsford and his wife Frannie; great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Morton Humphrey and Edmond Gawenda; sisters, Barbara Reventlow and Esther “Didi” Jennings.

Cremation arrangements were held under the direction of at Broussard's Crematorium, 5150 Stivers Drive, Beaumont.

There was a private family service held for Mrs. Gawenda.
