Idella Lewellen Williams Polk 
September 10, 1921 - March 17, 2010

Idella Lewellen Williams Polk, 88, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.

She was born September 10, 1921, in Clarksville, Tennessee to Mattie and Samuel Lewellen.  Idella had been a resident of Beaumont since 1950 and was a retired switchboard operator with Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital after many years at The Fair Store. 

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Polk of Beaumont; daughters, Wanda Grimes and her husband Marcus of Beaumont, Gwen Cahanin and her husband Freddie of Lumberton; son, Phillip Williams and his wife Mary of Orange; grandchildren, Reneé Friddle, Tony Grimes, Carmen Grimes, Michelle Morris, Melanie Anderson, Tabitha Cahanin, and Conrad Williams; great-grandchildren, David and Carlena Cardenas, Daniel Chase Guillory, Seth and Katie Roberts, Claire and Samuel Grimes, Christian and Taylor Morris, Caleb Wallace, and Lane Anderson; great-great-grandchild, Jayden Marsden; sister, Jewel Bryant of Eastpointe, Michigan; brothers, Luster Lewellen of Tennessee, Ogie Lewellen of Michigan; and her dear friend, Louise Byerly.

She is preceded in death by her son, Billy Williams; first husband, Bill Williams; grandson, Jeremy Grimes; and other brothers and sisters.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday March 21, 2010, at Woodland Baptist Church, 1860 West Lucas, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Broussard’s.
