Oran R. Smith, Jr. was born August 27, 1927, and passed March 5, 2010. He served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1947 in Germany. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator at Brown & Root.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Edith Smith of High Island; daughters, Sherry Guidry of High Island, Sandy Spencer of Honey Island, and Mary Gabbard of Galveston; son, Larry Smith of Winnie; sisters, Clara Davis, Mary Stabbs, Gladys Bellon, and Sylvonia DeWees of Winnie; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March, 9, 2010, at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer, Winnie with burial to follow at High Island Cemetery.  A gathering of his family and friends will be Monday, March 8, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
