Johnnie Harmon Williams 
July 24, 1917 - March 2, 2010

Johnnie Williams, 92, of Winnie died March 2, 2010, at his residence.

 

Johnnie was born in Carter, Oklahoma and moved to the Winnie area in 1959. He worked for the Corp of Engineer’s as an operator before retiring and was a U. S. Army World War II veteran. Johnnie is best known for his love of the Lord, Iona, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.  He was also known for his love of country, freedom, truth, honesty, hard work and fair play ruled by his day-to-day life. Johnnie was a deacon with the Baptist church for fifty years.

 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at the 1st Baptist Church,        113 Van Nostrand in Stowell with burial in the Thornton Family Cemetery, 421 Fig Ridge Rd under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.

 

Johnnie is survived by his loving wife of seventy-two years, Iona Williams of Winnie; son, Bob Williams and his wife Gwenda Gay of Anahuac; daughter, Lounette Thornton and her husband Andy of Winnie; sister, Tency Hess of Houston; grandchildren, Roy Jay, Nathan Williams, Shellie Loria, Dianna Frederick, Buck Thornton; great-grandchildren, Daniel Loria, Emily Loria, David Loria, Sarah Loria, Lee Thornton, Aden Thornton, Mallory Frederick, Drew Frederick; and numerous relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter Louise Jay.
