Edna C. Mattox, 82, of Beaumont, entered into rest Sunday, February 28, 2010, in Winnsboro, Texas.   A native of Daisetta, Texas, Edna was born May 8, 1927, to Day Canter and Ada May Canter. She married Joe B. Mattox on June 1, 1949, and later retired from Westbrook High School after forty-three years of service as a librarian. Joe preceded her in death on January 24, 2010, after sixty years of marriage.

Her parents; son, Joseph B. Mattox, Jr.; and great-grandson, J.T. Crow preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her son, Canter S. Mattox; sister, Doris E. Tywater; grandchildren, Amber Condrey, Josh B. Mattox, Heidi Michael and Ryan Donnell; great-grandchildren, Madie and Kenny Crow; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Mary Helen Welch and Jean Potter.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with interment to follow at Mattox Cemetery in Mayflower, Texas. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Broussard’s.
