Philip "Jocko" Grandio, Jr. 
April 8, 1929 - February 19, 2010

Philip “Jocko” Grandio, Jr. 80, of Beaumont died Friday, February 19, 2010, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. A native of Tampa, Florida, he was born April 8, 1929, to Margaret Garcia and Philip Grandio, Sr.

 

Philip earned his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida where he was a team member of the group that patented concentrated orange juice. He worked for Mobil Oil for twenty-five years and after retiring he taught at Lamar Institute of Technology in Beaumont.

 

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Philip enjoyed spending time at his beach house in Crystal Beach surrounded by family and friends. A mentor to children in baseball, softball and basketball, he enjoyed watching his own grandchildren play sports.

 

Philip is survived by his wife, Lali Grandio of Beaumont; daughters, Cindy Grandio and Liz Lovett both of Beaumont; grandchildren, Kristin Lovett and Adam Lovett and his fiancé Jena Walker; great grandchildren, Madyson Lovett, Michael Owens and Breeana Walker.

 

His funeral service will be 5:30 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Broussard’s. 

 

Cremation arrangement will be handled at Broussard’s Crematorium, 5150 Stivers Drive, Beaumont.
