B.J. “Sam” Porter, 81 of Port Neches, died Friday, February 19, 2010 at his residence. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm., Monday, February 22, 2010 at Broussard’s in Nederland with the Reverend Bobby King officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Broussard’s from 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday. Mr. Porter was born in Nacogdoches County and has lived in this area for the past sixty years. He was retired from the Goodrich plant in Port Neches as an operator. As a young man he joined the Army and served his county during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Porter enjoyed hunting deer and squirrel, a good game of Moon or 42 and was an avid football enthusiast, especially the Port Neches Indians and the Dallas Cowboys. Most of all, he loved being around his family. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Porter of Port Neches; daughters, Karen Arnold and Pattie Rodriguez both of Nederland; Lisa Spears and her husband David of Vidor; grandchildren, Jeremy Arnold, Tara Coody, Josh Rodriguez, Amber Phillips, Dustin Coody, David Spears, Jr., Brandi Leatherwood; great grandchildren, Joshua Arnold, Kinsley Arnold and sister, Alene Stone of Nacogdoches. |
