Richard Lincoln Neumann

Richard Lincoln Neumann, 84, of Beaumont, died peacefully in his sleep after a long struggle with failing health. He was born April 28, 1925, in Marlin, Texas to Clara and Rudolph Neumann, and has been a longtime resident of the Beaumont area. Richard graduated from Marlin High School in 1942. He attended several Universities; receiving his undergraduate degree in Washington and a graduate degree from the University of Utah. Richard received a General Electric graduate fellowship to Syracuse in New York, Certificates from Brigham Young University in Utah and San Diego State in California. He was a true educator, teaching classes throughout the educational system and held many administrative positions. His teaching included Elementary, Jr. High, High School and Universities. Richard was also Director of Personnel in Salt Lake City, Chief Negotiator for Wichita State University Research, Eight State Consortium at Lamar University and taught many graduate classes at Westminster. Richard served in the United States Navy during World War II where his duty was in the South Pacific on a Texas ship, the USS Dalhart. He was Commissioner of the American Softball Association 32nd District for many many years; a position that he loved and was honored to serve. Richard leaves with cherished memories his wife, Cecile; son, David Neumann and his wife Michelle of Portland, Oregon; daughters, Sharon Applenzeller of La Mesa, California and Jamie Neumann of Stamford, Connecticut; and granddaughter, Jeanna Neumann of Portland, Oregon. He is preceded in death by two children; and his parents, Clara and Rudolph Neumann.
