Robert Smith, 53, of Beaumont and formerly of Nederland passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at The Ridgewood Retirement Center in Beaumont.    Funeral service will be 10 am Friday, February 12, 2009 in the chapel of Broussard’s in Nederland with Mr. Jeff Trahan officiating. Committal service with Military Honors will be 9 am Monday, February 15, 2009 at Houston National Cemetery in Houston. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, February 11, 2009 at the mortuary.   Mr. Smith was a salesman in the insurance industry and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the Navy and a member of the Church of Christ.    Mr. Smith is survived by his sons, Bobby N. Smith and his wife Carolyn of Dallas, James B, Smith and his wife Rae Lynn of Washington, Kenneth L. Smith of Amarillo and Anthony Smith of Groves; daughter, Madeline Smith of San Antonio; parents, Bob and Gwen Smith of Nederland; brothers, Andrew Smith and his wife Susan of Nederland and Mark “Smitty” Smith and his wife Margaret of Nederland and a host of other relatives and friends.
