Janie "Jane" Lee Price
February 13, 1915 - January 30, 2010

Janie Lee Carr Price was born in McCool, Mississippi on February 13, 1915. When she was six years old she moved to Orange, Texas with her parents, Alonzo and Stella Carr, and her siblings; Ercella, Clyde, Nannette, Stella Lou and Joe.   On February 15, 1936 she married her high school sweetheart, Charles L. (Butch) Price. Their only child, Jo Nan Price Carr was born in 1941 when they lived in Orangefield. As oil fields opened across Texas they relocated with Sun Pipe Line Company to Agua Dulce, Silver and Winnie finally arriving in Nederland in 1956.   Jane was the matriarch of a very special family and loved each one very much. She was always proud of her two grand daughters, Valeria Jane Winkelman and Misty Jo Hale, and played a major part in their lives. She found great joy in her three great grand daughters, Emily Joanne Winkelman, Courtney Michelle Winkelman and Hannah Jane Hale. She loved and appreciated the three men in her family, Mike Winkelman, Gary Hale and Paul Flagg.   Since 1956, Jane was an active member of First Baptist Church in Nederland. Over the past 35 years she welcomed, greeted and hugged everyone as they arrived for Sunday morning services. She loved playing board games, especially Bridge and 42, and socializing with friends. She was well known for ability to create fun and her outstanding cooking. Jane was a wonderful inspiration to others and source of wisdom and joy for all who knew her. Her wish is for us to carry on with the same jest for life and positive outlook that she exhibited throughout her lifetime.   Her service will be 10:00am Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Nederland with Dr David Higgs officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be 5-8:00pm Monday, February 1, 2010 at the church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland.   In lieu of flowers she requested donations in her name to: The Texas Shakespeare Festival, Kilgore College, 1100 Broadway, Kilgore, TX. 75662 or Nederland First Baptist Church Building Fund.
