Kate "MiMi" Dishman
December 8, 1911 - January 30, 2010

Kate Kuhn “Mimi” Dishman, 98, of Beaumont, joined her beloved husband, Herbert E. Dishman, in heaven on Saturday, January 30, 2010. A native of Mermentau, Louisiana, Kate was born December 8, 1911, to William and Maggie Kuhn and moved to Beaumont with her family in the 1920’s. On November 29, 1933, Kate married her husband, Herb, and they remained happily married for fifty-five years, until his death in 1988.

She was a graduate of the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, a charter member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaumont and a member of the Trinity Garden Club. She, like her husband, had a wonderful sense of community and believed in supporting the area in which she lived. While she was elegant and graceful at community events, she was more comfortable with her own tackle box and taking her grandchildren to the lake to go fishing. She loved the outdoors, was an avid golfer, even into her 80’s, and loved to travel.

Kate had many accomplishments in life; the most important being her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and teaching them that God and family come first. We will all miss her sense of humor, wonderful cooking, playing dominos and cards, but most of all, her warmth, and unconditional love and friendship.

Her husband, Herbert E. Dishman; and daughter, Mary Frances Sherlock preceded her in death.

Kate is survived by her son, Herbert E.”Gene” Dishman, Jr. and his wife Laura; grandchildren, Rhonda Kay Richter and her husband Ken, Jeana Evans and her husband Ricky, Kristen Patterson and her husband John, Kim Chica and her husband Jerry, Herb Dishman III and his wife Miranda, Whitney Neighbors and her husband Allan, and Morgan Angelone and her husband Alfonso; sixteen great-grandchildren, Mary Frances, Kelby and Katherine Martin, John, Ray and George Patterson, Kate, Anna and Lilly Chica, William Morrison, Kaylyn and Coleton Evans, Haydon, Kailar Dishman and Hailey Arabie, and Davis Neighbors; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2010, at the church. She will lie in state in the Dishman Chapel, and her family will receive friends in the Nita McKnight Parlor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Peterson Hospice, 1211 Broadway, Kerrville, Texas 78028; or a southeast Texas charity of your choice.
