Pat Hardy Morris, 87, of Sour Lake, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Kingwood Memorial Center in Kingwood. He was born September 2, 1922, in Leesberg, Texas to Alice E. Martin and Hardy C. Morris. He married Jane Pullen on July 25, 1948, and together, they lived in the Beaumont area for over fifty years. Pat graduated from East Texas State University with his Masters degree in 1949 and received another Masters degree from Sam Houston State University. He retired as a Guidance Counselor from Hardin-Jefferson High School in Sour Lake, where he had previously taught Industrial Arts and Wood Shop. Pat is a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sour Lake and of the Masonic Lodge Clinton #23 in Henderson, Texas for over fifty years. Survivors include his daughter, Melanie Neal and her husband Gene of Atascocita, their children, Brooke Tinsley and her husband Ryan, Brandi Washburn and her husband Brian, and their daughter, Brilee; Barret Neal and Alexa Espinõ, and their son, Braysen; son, Kyle Morris of Round Rock, and his daughter, Delana; sister-in-law, Marian Morris; nephew, John Morris and his wife Galene; and long-time friend, Don Mathews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Morris; parents, Alice Eudell Martin and Hardy Clifton Morris; brother, Jimmie D. Morris; and nephew, Joe Morris. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake with Jimmy Burke, Ronald Johnson, Randy Richard, Jimmy Denton, Randy Holzheuser, and Don Mathews serving as pallbearers. W.W. Broussard, Jimmy Ames and E.C. Guidry will serve as honorary pallbearers. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010, at Broussard’s.
