William Sam Fountain

W.S. “Sam” Fountain, 88, of Nederland, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. Graveside service will be 2 pm Friday, January 29, 2009 in Spring Ridge Cemetery in San Augustine County with Rev. Will Agy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, January 28, 2009 at the mortuary. Mr. Fountain was born October 24, 1921 in San Augustine County. He served in the Army during World War II. He lived most of his life in Nederland before moving to Bon Weir in 1977. Mr. Fountain was a carpenter at Mobil Oil for 28 years and retired as Maintenance Supervisor in 1976 after 33 years of service. He was quite a woodworker and built cabinets in many homes in the Nederland area. He also developed his own hybrid corn for cornmeal. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great paw and will be missed by many. Mr. Fountain is survived by his wife of 65 years, Exa Fountain of Nederland; sons, Jerry Fountain and his wife Ronni of Fannett and Robert Fountain and his wife Mary Kay of Bon Weir; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, James Fountain and his wife Reva of Anahuac and Kay Fountain of Jasper and sister, Nettie Marie Rayon of Livingston. Mr. Fountain was preceded in death by his parents, King and Melissa Fountain; brother, John Fountain; sisters, Ardella Whitehead and Tempie Lee Balch and grandson, Brannon Loukas. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Fountain’s caregivers, Angela and Albina. |
