Dorothy "Dottie" E. Brooks 
October 22, 1929 - January 22, 2010

Dorothy E. “Dottie” Brooks, 80, of Beaumont, went to be with the Lord and join her husband, Tom, on January 22, 2010.

 

A native of Douglas, Georgia, Dottie graduated from Douglas High School and attended South Georgia College. After marrying Thomas Watson Brooks, the couple moved to Houston in 1948 and later moved to Beaumont in 1964. Dottie was always very involved in her children’s lives and was active in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a longtime member of the HAMACO Sunday School Class at Trinity United Methodist Church. Dottie loved to spend her recent years playing bridge, gardening and traveling, and attended her 1962 class reunion in Georgia, last April.

 

Her parents; and loving husband of forty-nine years, Tom Brooks, preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her children, T.W. Brooks, Jr., Barbara Brooks Franklin, Robert Barclay Brooks and his wife Beth, and William Arthur Brooks and his wife Ranell; sister, Janice Hoover and her husband Winburn; grandchildren, Raymond Gore and his wife Cara, Brooke Gore Johnson and her husband Micah, Courtney Brooks, Bailey Brooks, Jim Franklin, Daphne Amin, John Franklin and  Debbie Franklin Schuelke, ; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Broussard's.
