Murel Slaydon, Sr., 71, of Kountze, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at his residence.

Murel was born in Singer, Louisiana and has lived in Hardin County for the last forty-eight years where he was self employed.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Slaydon; son, Murel Slaydon, Jr. and Brandon Fregia and his wife Shonda; daughters, Melinda Roth and her husband Ronald, Janie Slaydon, Christy Lee and her husband Daybo, and Merlene Jenkins; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Janie Moore and her husband William.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee with burial to follow at Frank’s Branch Cemetery in Fred.  A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, January 22, 2010, 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
