Judith Nadine Thorpe Wynkoop, 83, of Beaumont, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 21, 2010.
Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on February 9, 1926, to Delmar and Nadine Currie Thorpe, Judith moved with her family to Fort Worth at age eighteen months. There, her father worked as a structural draftsman until The Great Depression, when the family then moved to her maternal grandparent’s farm in Ballinger, Texas. They remained in Ballinger until her father re-gained his job in Fort Worth where Judith grew up and attended high school until her junior year. They later moved to Beaumont where her father then took a job with Bethlehem Steel. They joined Westminster Presbyterian Church where Judith met and married the love of her life, Neal Wynkoop. They raised five children into adulthood and Judith was very active in the ministry of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, serving on many committees and as President of the Women of the Church.
Her husband, Neal Wynkoop; brothers, John D. Thorpe and Wix C. Thorpe; and granddaughters, Kristyn and Faith Wynkoop preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Charlotte Boling of Beaumont, Charles Wynkoop and his wife Jeanine of Beaumont, Paul Wynkoop of Austin, and Tim and Peter Wynkoop of Beaumont; seven grandchildren, Jenny, Shelly, Robyn, Mandy, Kaitlyn, Neal and Hannah; nine great-grandchildren, Bryan, Joanna, Carson, Sophie, Kara, Adryanne, Reese, Aiden and Kayden; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was loved by all.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010, at the church.
