Don Gay 
October 8, 1930 - January 17, 2010

Don Gay, 79 of Port Neches passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at his residence.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend Monsignor Bennie Patillo officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, with a Christian Vigil to begin at 6 PM followed by a Knight of Columbus Rosary at the mortuary.   Mr. Gay was a native of Detroit, Michigan and has lived in Port Neches since 1972. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches where he was active in R.C.I.A, and a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Port Neches Knights of Columbus # 2461, where he served as the Financial Secretary and Bingo Chairman. Mr. Gay retired from the United States Army at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 and then retired from Phillips Chemical, and the J. M. Huber Plant as an Electrical Supervisor.   Mr. Gay was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Wieczorek and grandson, Matthew Gay. He is survived by his wife Shirley Gay of Port Neches; two daughters, Donna Gay of Port Neches, and Lisa Scott and her husband Mark of Port Neches; four sons, Jeff Gay and his wife Tami of Rockwall, Scott Gay and his wife Jeanene of Groves, Tedd Gay, and Stewart Gay, both of Port Neches; sister, Louise Gay of Novi, Michigan, brother, Bill Gay and his wife Peggy of Avilla, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; niece, Louise Strzalka of Canton; and one nephew Wayne Wieczorek of Novi, Michigan.
