James Gary “Mac” McMinn, 73, of Sour Lake, died Thursday, January 14, 2010.  He was born June 23, 1936, in Beaumont to Billie Barney McMinn and Gary Hollis McMinn and was a lifelong resident of the Beaumont area. Mac was retired from the United States Navy and later from Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Helen McMinn of Sour Lake; children, Becky Jackson and her husband Brett of Beaumont, Gary McMinn and his wife Paula of Kingwood, James E. McMinn and Barbara McMinn both of Corpus Christi; sister, Bobbye Jean Cochran and her husband Charles of Lumberton; brothers, Edwin McMinn of Tucson, Arizona and Earl Bradshaw and his wife Lucille of Terrell; fourteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; step-children, Karen Edgar and her husband Jim, Lee Diehl, and Terri Bingham all of Milton, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010, at Broussard’s.
