Eugene “Gene” J. Reeves, 88, of Beaumont, died on Friday, January 8, 2010, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Gene was born January 26, 1921, to Blanche Weber and Clint Reeves.
Gene graduated from Beaumont High School in 1938 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice University in 1943. He was an engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation for thirty-nine years. After retiring in 1980, Gene traveled throughout the world as a consultant for Mobil Oil and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Naldia Peteete Reeves of Beaumont; daughter, Carolyn Jean Reeves of Clear Lake; son, James David Reeves and his wife Eleanor “Ebby” of Houston; grandchildren, Travis M. Reeves, Cameron S. Reeves and Landon Trent Phillips.
Gene is preceded in death by his brother, Dr. James B. Reeves.
His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 11:30 a.m. until time of service at Broussard’s.
