July 1, 1930 - January 6, 2010

Eunice Joyce Petkovsek, 79, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on January 6, 2010, in The Woodlands, Texas.

Eunice was born to Rudolph and Edna Ladner on July 1, 1930, in Devers, Texas, but spent most of her life in Beaumont, Texas.  She lived in Pennsylvania and California for some time with her husband, John C. Petkovsek, who was an engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation.  When he passed away in 1976, she returned to Beaumont to be with her friends and family.  Later she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and then The Woodlands, Texas.

Eunice was a longtime and active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont where she had many friends who were like family.  Her faith was very important to her as were her friends, especially those who played bridge with her for many years.  She also loved entertaining, baking and all of her beautiful flowers and plants in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Edna Ladner; brother, “Doc” Ladner; and nieces with whom she was very close, Ruby Joyce Ladner LaBove and Phyllis Ladner McCormick; and nephew, George C. Smith.

Survivors include her daughters, Darlene Wagner and her husband Mike of The Woodlands and Aransas Pass, Brenda Petkovsek Bean and her husband Ronnie of Beaumont and Nancy Petkovsek of Orange; granddaughter, Amy Alise’ Prejean-Sanders and her husband Jeremiah; grandson, Nelson E. Walker of Maine;  great-granddaughter, Savoya Rose Prejean-Sanders; sister, Ruby Smith of Vidor; brothers, “Buck” Ladner of Lumberton and Sam Ladner of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; sisters-in-law, June and Ruth Ladner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eunice will forever be remembered by caregivers for her sparkling smile and her “Hi Darlin”.  The family would like to thank all of her wonderful caregivers and physicians in Beaumont, the Corpus Christi area and The Woodlands, Texas for their very loving and gentle care and support through her voyage through life with Alzheimer’s and stroke related dementia.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2010, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of her family and friends will be 2:00 P.M.  until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Broussard’s.
