Joseph Jannise, 78, of China, died Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont.

A native and lifelong resident of China, Joseph retired from Beaumont Rice Mill after thirty years and he went on to retire from Jefferson County Precinct 1 in China after twelve years.

Survivors include his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Judy Jannise of China; sons, Joseph Jannise Jr. and his wife Libby of Beaumont, Mark Jannise of China, Jay Jannise and his wife Stacie of Hamshire; daughters, Jenny Day of China, and Liz Agricola of Humble; grandchildren Stephen Jannise, John Jannise, Joel Jannise and his wife Sabrina, Juliet and Mary Ann Jannise, Jillian and Jenna Day, Jeffery, J. Storme and Jake Jannise, and Katie and Alyssa Agricola; brothers, Lloyd Jannise of Nederland, Clyde Jannise and Willard Jannise both of Kountze; and numerous other loving family members.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Wayne Jannise.
