Stephen E. LaCour, Jr., 36 of Mauriceville went to be with his Savior Saturday, January 2, 2010, after a courageous battle at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
A native of Orange, he was born April 1, 1973, to Glenda Hawkins and Stephen E. LaCour, Sr. Raised in Orangefield until 1989, he graduated from Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School in 1991. He married the former Melinda Fortune in 1996, and they made their home in Mauriceville where he was the owner/operator of Country Cycles and ATVs. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Vidor.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda LaCour; daughter, Taryn LaCour and son, Grant LaCour all of Mauriceville; parents, Glenda and Stephen E. LaCour, Sr. of Mauriceville; grandmothers, Leatha Cress and her husband Haywood of Liberty and Elizabeth Hawkins of Orange; and sisters, Valerie LaCour and Kimberly Jowell and her husband Harry Dale all of Mauriceville. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends whose life Stephen has touched through the years.
His funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Vidor, 350 North Main St., under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Bridge City. A gathering of his family and friends will be 5:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at the church.
