Wesley J. Manuel, 80, of Beaumont died January 1, 2010, at his residence. Wesley was born June 28, 1929, to Joseph Chris and Dea (Bertrand) Manuel. A native of Basile, Louisiana and a Beaumont resident for seventeen years, he was retired with Brown Oil Tools.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Clairday Manuel of Beaumont; children, John Gregory Manuel and his wife Gail of W. Palm Beach, Florida, Nancy Jarzyna and her husband Ed of Flatwoods, Louisiana, and Catherine Manuel and Dea Marie Manuel both of Lake Charles; step-children; Lauren Sura and her husband Mike of Woodhaven, Michigan, Miron Sittig and her husband Art of Iowa, Louisiana, Deena Breaux and her husband Ernie of Vinton, Louisiana, and Matt Clairday and his wife Robyn of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and nine step-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his adopted son, Joseph Chris Manuel; sisters, Rena Stearns, Doris Vidrine; and parents, Joseph Chris and Dea Bertrand Manuel.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Broussard’s, 1605 N. Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of his family and friends will be Monday, January 4, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
