Captain Donald "Don" Charles Schultz 
December 11, 1930 - December 30, 2009

Captain Donald “Don” Charles Schultz, 79, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at his residence.

 

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a long time resident of Beaumont, Texas, Don served in the United States Marine Corps before retiring after twenty-seven years of service. His service included Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Hawaii, to name a few. He later retired from Bethlehem Steel Ship Yard after twenty years in the purchasing department. Not ready to sit still and permanently retire, Don went on to work another fifteen years for M&I Electric, Todd Ship Yard in Galveston, and Trinity Industries in Beaumont.

 

Don was a Christian and member of St. John Lutheran Church in Beaumont. He enjoyed many things such as going to the beach, fishing and his biggest passion, bowling. He traveled and bowled in thirty-four National Tournaments and was the Beaumont Bowling Association Secretary for many years. Some even referred to him as “Mr. Bowling”. Don was also very active in Boy Scouts of America.

 

His wife, Rose Schultz; and son, Mike Schultz preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Hogan and her husband Tommy; son, Scott Schultz; and granddaughters, Mandy and Jessica Hogan all of Beaumont.

 

Don was a devoted husband, father and a very proud Grandpa and will truly be missed.

 

His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church, 2955 South Major Drive, Beaumont with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m., at Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Broussard’s.
