Telka Dean Sumrall, 86, of Nacogdoches died Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.  Telka was born September 24, 1923, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to William Adie and Grace Lela (Wall) Greeson.  A resident of Thicket for many years, she resided in Nacogdoches the last seven years and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Ladean Rethford and her husband John of Nacogdoches, Jimmy Sumrall and his wife Joy of Cairo, Egypt, and Deloris Jackson of Nacogdoches; sister, Ruth Rountree of Amarillo; grandchildren, Michael Starrett, Ronnie Starrett, Rhonda McCall and her husband Kenneth, Tab Sumrall, Kerry Sumrall and his wife Karen, Todd Sumrall and his wife Melissa, Machelle Reyes and her husband Nick, Kim Gore and her husband Gregg, and Valarie Spitler and her husband Ronnie; twenty great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sumrall; grandson, Keith Sumrall; son-in-law, Jesse Jackson; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2010, at Votaw Worship Center, 3160 FM 2798, Votaw, Texas with Reverend Dean Love and Reverend Mike Boney officiating. Burial will follow at Felps Cemetery in Thicket, Texas.  A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, December 31, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze.
