Myra Hutchins Butler 
September 12, 1911 - December 19, 2009

Myra Hutchins Butler, 98, of Beaumont died Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in BeaumontMyra was born in Grandview, Texas on September 12, 1911, to Tully and Ella (Jones) Hutchins.  A 1928 graduate of Grandview High School, she earned a degree in art from Texas Womens University in 1933.  In 1934, she married Leo Thomas Butler.  Myra was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in Alpha Omega Sunday School for years. She volunteered as a gray lady with Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, served as a hostess and docent at the McFaddin Ward House, and taught art for twelve summers at the Hill Country Art Foundation in Ingram, Texas.

 

Survivors include her sons, Leo Thomas Butler, Jr. and his wife Nona and Tully Robert Butler and his wife Jan; three grandchildren, Allen Butler, Karen Miller, and Tully Hutchins Butler; three great grandchildren, Amanda Miller, Emily Miller, and Ashley Webb; two great great grandchildren, Nathan and Samantha Webb; nephew, E.J. Hutchins; niece, Mary Lynn Ahrenbeck; and great niece and nephew, Keiten and Jarren Day.

 

Her graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Magnolia Cemetery, 2290 Pine Street, Beaumont with Reverend Matt Weaver officiating.  A gathering of her family and friends will begin Monday, December 21, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. at  Broussard’s, 1605 N. Major Drive, Beaumont.
