Dorthy Dodson Anderson, 91, of Beaumont passed away Friday, December 11, 2009, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

She was a native of Port Arthur and longtime resident of the Beaumont area.  Dorthy and her husband, Rex were charter members of Westgate Church of Christ in Beaumont.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Rexford Anderson, Jr. and his wife Mary of Abilene; daughter, Donna Jo Anderson of Beaumont; sister, Doris Hammock of Beaumont; grandchildren, Rexford Anderson III of Dallas, and Linda Christian and her husband Kevin of Abilene; great granddaughter, Morgan Christian; brother-in-law, Harold Anderson and his wife Kay of San Angelo; sister-in-law, Barbara Anderson of Georgetown; and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Her husband, Rexford Anderson, Sr. preceded her in death.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009, at Westgate Church of Christ with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Broussard’s.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ronald Palang, the nurses from Beaumont Home Health, and Dr. S. Patibandla and her staff for many years of compassionate care for our precious mother.
