Bettie Jane Mills Williams, 87, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

She was born June 29, 1922, in Henrietta, Oklahoma to Eula Palmer and Lawrence Mills. A resident of the Beaumont area most of her life, Bettie was the former Adult Ministries Director at Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a United States Navy Waves veteran having served in World War II.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Smith and her husband David of Liberty; grandsons, Kyle Smith and Cody Smith both of Liberty; brother, Lantos Mills of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Catherine Smith of Houston; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Williams; parents, Eula and Lawrence Mills; sister, Hazel Alexander; and brothers, Lonnie Mills and Marvis “Peck” Mills.

A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Wesley United Methodist Church under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Following the service, the family requests for everyone to join them for a reception in the church parlor hosted by the Ladies of Fidelis Sunday School Class.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s.
