Michael “Mike” Kerr, Sr., 69, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

He was born August 24, 1940 in Lufkin, Texas to Sarah Gibson and Darwin Kerr.  Mike has lived in the Beaumont area for almost twenty years and was a courier with Errand Boy Express.  He was a retired veteran from the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Carol Kerr of Lumberton; son, Mike Kerr, Jr. and his wife Janice of Colmesneil; daughters, Rebecca McNeely and her husband Milton, Jr. and Sarah James and her husband Roy of Wimberley; five grandchildren, Janna Vaughn, Dustin McNeely, Pvt Blake McNeely, Jacki Kerr and Garrett Pope; four great grandchildren, J’Lee Vaughn, Hannah Brook McNeely, Marlee Vaughn and Riley Vaughn; and brothers, Gerald Kerr of Palestine and Karl Kerr of Nacogdoches.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Kerr.

A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s.
