Virginia Abshure, 88, of Nederland, died December 6, 2009 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.  A native of China, she was born on April 16, 1921 to Rudolph and Marie Blanchard.  A longtime resident of Nederland, she was a nurse with Christus St. Mary Hospital. Virginia was a fun loving lady who spent her life dedicated to her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Hanley and her husband Jerry of Nederland, Darleen Parker and her husband Gene of Concord, Ohio, Faye Daniels and her husband Clair of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Jackie Parmenter and her husband Phil of Little Cypress; brother, Morris Blanchard and his wife Shirley of China; sister, Ollie Weideshous of China; sister-in-law, Viola Moss of Nederland; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Abshure; eight brothers and sisters; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Broussard’s, 1605 N Major Drive, Beaumont followed by burial at China Cemetery.  A gathering of her family and friends will be Tuesday evening, December 8, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
