Bob Shepherd, 71 of Nederland passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Triumph Town and Country Hospital in Houston.   Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland with Reverend Dr. Elvin Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00-6:00 PM, Saturday at the mortuary.   Mr. Shepherd was a native of Letcher County, Kentucky and has lived in Nederland since 1961. He was a salesman with McLaury’s, Conn’s and retired from Sears. Mr. Shepherd was a basketball star in the ‘60s, played on two state champion teams in high school, was an avid golfer and enjoyed swimming.   Mr. Shepherd was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Louise Shepherd; wife, Martha Shepherd; brother, Donald Shepherd; and stepson, Jerry Henley. He is survived by his daughter, Kim Maxwell and husband Shaun of Houston; son Mike Newton and wife Janet of Round Rock; two brothers, Jimmy Shepherd of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Richard Shepherd of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Wanda Henley of Weatherford; four sisters, Nadine Cornett of Richmond, Kentucky, Lorraine Dawson of Chicago, Illinois, Bille Sue Wiggins of Cincinnati, Ohio, Imogene Barnes of Milford, Ohio; four grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, and Taryn Newton and Molly Kate Maxwell.
