Robert Joe Gongora, 55, of Brownsville died December 3, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston.  He was a native of Beaumont and lived in the area most of his life.

He is survived by his sons, Robert “Robby” Joe Gongora and his wife Kabrina of Vidor, Matthew Gongora of College Station, and Johny Ray Smith of Austin; brothers, Joe Gongora and Alex Gongora and his wife Vicky; sisters, Toni Perez and her husband Manuel, Dee Rubio and her husband Dan, Hope Schroeder and her husband David, and Christie Lindsey and her husband Lance; and six grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alexander and Angelina Gongora; and sisters, Marina Negrete and Edubejin Gongora.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 N. Major Drive, Beaumont.  A gathering of family and friends will begin 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.
